I was happy to see four species.<\/p>\n<p>First, the American redstart.  These birds <a href=\"http:\/\/nationalzoo.si.edu\/scbi\/migratorybirds\/featured_birds\/default.cfm?bird=American_Redstart\">spend the winter<\/a> in the region from southern Mexico and the Caribbean to northeastern South America.<\/p>\n<p><figure id=\"attachment_436\" aria-labelledby=\"figcaption_attachment_436\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 810px\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/sicloot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/01_redstart.jpg\" alt=\"American redstart\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" class=\"size-full wp-image-436\" srcset=\"http:\/\/sicloot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/01_redstart.jpg 800w, http:\/\/sicloot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/01_redstart-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption id=\"figcaption_attachment_436\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">American redstart<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nNext, the yellow warbler, one I had seen before. They may not go as far to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.allaboutbirds.org\/guide\/Yellow-rumped_Warbler\/lifehistory\">over-winter<\/a>, staying within the U.S. or going farther south to Central America or the Caribbean.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_438\" aria-labelledby=\"figcaption_attachment_438\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 810px\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/sicloot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/03_yellow_rumped.jpg\" alt=\"Yellow-rumped warbler showing its yellow rump patch\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" class=\"size-full wp-image-438\" srcset=\"http:\/\/sicloot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/03_yellow_rumped.jpg 800w, http:\/\/sicloot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/03_yellow_rumped-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption id=\"figcaption_attachment_438\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Yellow-rumped warbler<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>And, finally, I saw a palm warbler.  These are some of the first warblers to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.borealbirds.org\/guide\/guide_detail.php?guideid=1&#038;speciesid=2692\">reach us<\/a> here in Boston.  In fact, it was rare to see one so late in the season. These trilliums are native wildflowers.
