I spotted a <a href=\"http:\/\/bugeric.blogspot.com\/2012\/12\/spider-sunday-nursery-web-spider.html\">nursery web spider<\/a> (<i>Pisaurina mira<\/i>) biding its time under a leaf. Also note the white hairs along its body and the black spines on its legs.<\/p>\n<p><figure id=\"attachment_1035\" aria-labelledby=\"figcaption_attachment_1035\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 810px\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/sicloot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/02_spider2.jpg\" alt=\"Nursery web spider\" width=\"800\" height=\"541\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1035\" srcset=\"http:\/\/sicloot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/02_spider2.jpg 800w, http:\/\/sicloot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/02_spider2-300x202.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption id=\"figcaption_attachment_1035\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nursery web spider<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I found what I think is an amber snail, although the shell had black markings that I have not previously seen on amber snails.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1036\" aria-labelledby=\"figcaption_attachment_1036\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 810px\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/sicloot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/03_amber_snail.jpg\" alt=\"Amber snail\" width=\"800\" height=\"551\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1036\" srcset=\"http:\/\/sicloot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/03_amber_snail.jpg 800w, http:\/\/sicloot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/03_amber_snail-300x206.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption id=\"figcaption_attachment_1036\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Possible amber snail<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I uncovered a few earthworms under leaf litter.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1037\" aria-labelledby=\"figcaption_attachment_1037\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 810px\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/sicloot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/04_earthworm.jpg\" alt=\"Earthworm\" width=\"800\" height=\"463\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1037\" srcset=\"http:\/\/sicloot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/04_earthworm.jpg 800w, http:\/\/sicloot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/04_earthworm-300x173.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption id=\"figcaption_attachment_1037\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Earthworm<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A long-legged harvestman, possibly in the genus <i>Leiobunum<\/i>, sits still.  Unlike spiders, most harvestmen have two eyes.  You can see them at the front end of the long dark stripe running down its body.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1038\" aria-labelledby=\"figcaption_attachment_1038\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 810px\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/sicloot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/05_harvestman.jpg\" alt=\"Harvestman\" width=\"800\" height=\"521\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1038\" srcset=\"http:\/\/sicloot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/05_harvestman.jpg 800w, http:\/\/sicloot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/05_harvestman-300x195.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption id=\"figcaption_attachment_1038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Harvestman<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>One of the more common wildflowers this time of year is the white wood-aster (<i>Eurybia divaricata<\/i>).  They do well under the shade of large trees, so the Arboretum is the perfect environment for them.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1039\" aria-labelledby=\"figcaption_attachment_1039\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 810px\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/sicloot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/06_white_wood_aster.jpg\" alt=\"Flowers of white wood-aster\" width=\"800\" height=\"552\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1039\" srcset=\"http:\/\/sicloot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/06_white_wood_aster.jpg 800w, http:\/\/sicloot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/06_white_wood_aster-300x207.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption id=\"figcaption_attachment_1039\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Flowers of white wood-aster<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Porcelain berries (<i>Ampelopsis brevipedunculata<\/i>) have begun to ripen.  The vine is invasive, but I can see why it was originally planted.
