Red Sox Victory Parade

Boston celebrated the Red Sox victory in the World Series by throwing a parade on Saturday. I joined the crowds at one corner of the Boston Common, with bright fall color in the background.

A photo of Boston police offier Steve Horgan throwing his hands in the air while a Detroit player flipped over, his legs in the air, is one of the iconic images of this World Series. Horgan was on the first duck boat. At the urging of the crowd, he threw his hands up.

I heard that David Ortiz, MVP of this World Series, rapped his way down Boylston. He took a breather as he passed us.

Red, white, and blue confetti rained down on us.

Later that day, we went for a picnic along the banks of a much quieter Jamaica Pond.
